ABOUT US The entire world is in a great state of flux. We find that the Flow brings us here, to as pure a Nature in as delectable a climate as we can find. And here we taste the world´s time and find that amidst a sordid roilment of values and meaning, here we find peace and purpose. Do we vacation here? Surely- but a vacating without reason seems empty, so we seek. We seek, and what we are in the process of finding we want to share. Do we think that doom and gloom hold sway? Nay, for happenings carry the irrefutable authority of truth, and one of the first phenomenons we have witnessed here is that the Earth Story is one of love. Will there be challenge then? Yay! Will there be chaos? Maybe - ask the other species, as they dwindle away, if there is not confusion in their going. Are we fit to handle this coming Change? CATHARSIS. Are we able to dance to the music of Change? CATHARSIS, survival in style.
Ashley Kent Carrithers, Patron and Co-founder of Catharsis, was acquired by the lands of Ranquilco in 1979 and falls deeper in love every year. Ashley is a writer (he likes to think of himself also as a righter), and will be available for fireside metaphysical chats. He is the founder of both the Island Foundation and Island Press, and has been a conservationalist for 30 years. In addition he founded a Free School in 1971 in California. Additionally he has perfected the concept of ETC - Enjoy the Creation, and will offer touches of "Re-Wimping" from time to time in the Big House where fine wine, silver and crystal, can be enjoyed.
T.A. Carrithers is a master survivalist, having taught the most demanding course at BOSS, and an Alaskan bush pilot as well as a fine horseman and packer. T.A. is knowledgeable on the alternate building and energy fronts also.
Sky Carrithers, largely raised at Ranquilco, is about half horse herself, being able to communicate with those critters on a very high level. She also is involved with Permaculture, holistic land management, yoga, herbal healing, and all phases of estancia life.
Brett Lovelace is a botany teacher from Humboldt State University in Northern California. He leads a 15 student trans Andean Natural History of the Cordillera course for 9 weeks which is a life-changing event for the participants. He does pioneering work in canopy biology and studies herbal medicine. Alejandro Solanet will teach his adaptation of the “soft touch” method, using the round corral to start new colts and finish off the starts from last year. Alejandro, a young and personable Argentine, is the grandson of Emilio Solanet who is credited with developing Argentina’s sturdy and universal breed, the Criollo. Alejandro will also be giving classes in scientific shoeing, and, in the evenings, leatherwork.
